My husband left yesterday for basic training. I thought I would handle it better than I actually am. I sobbed yesterday for hours. Once he was gone and I got home, I could barely catch my breath. He got to call me late last night and let me know he had arrived. Hearing his voice made me cry again. I cried this morning when I woke up and wrote him a letter, but that’s it. Today has been a much better day. I can only hope the next few days get easier and the weeks along with that. It’s funny when you realize how much someone means to you. It’s usually in the moments they aren’t there.
I am counting down the days until I see him again.
What were your experiences with a family member leaving for the military? I would love to hear them.
